Rider: Isabell Werth Weihegold OLD started in 2012 as a 10-year-old under Beatrice Buchwald in medium and advanced level dressage tests. After several successes during the season, the mare won the Nuremberg Castle Cup the following year. In 2014, Weihegold competed in the Agravis Cup under Isabell Werth and was able to finish the Meggle Prize with second place. Beatrice Buchwald was also able to achieve second place with the mare in the Grand Prix at the CHI Donaueschingen 2015. The couple closed the year 2015 successfully, because they won the Grand Prix Special in the Frankfurt Festhallen. At the beginning of 2016, Isabell Werth, with whom Beatrice Buchwald trains, decided to ride Weihegold OLD at the World Cup tournament in Amsterdam. The couple won the World Cup Freestyle right away. Because it went so well in Amsterdam, Werth decided to start the mare in Neumünster in the World Cup Freestyle. "Weihegold is an option for the German team at the Olympic Games...", says Werth. A good decision, because the couple was also able to win the Grand Prix and the World Cup Freestyle in Neumünster. Due to Don Johnson's absence and Bella Rose, Isabell Werth, along with her horse Emilio, is also preparing with Weihegold for the Olympic qualifications in 2016. Weihegold secures a place in the German Olympic team for Rio.Werth and the mare improve more and more during the competitions in Rio, in the Grand Prix Special they are the best couple and win gold with the German team. Both finished the freestyle in second place behind Valegro. That is the silver medal for Weihegold OLD and Isabell Werth. The updated world rankings have been available since January 3rd, 2017 and they show clearly who currently dominates dressage events in the sport. Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD have scored 2,928 points. A remarkable success for Isabell Werth's former second option horse. At the end of January 2017, as in the previous year, the couple showed the best World Cup freestyle at the World Cup tournament in Amsterdam, breaking the 90% mark as they did in Lyon. With a score of 90.720%, Werth and Weihegold left the competition far behind. At the European Championships in Gothenburg, the couple won 3x gold! They secured the first gold medal together with the team. They were also unbeatable in the Grad Prix Special and in the freestyle. In April 2018, the couple was able to defend the World Cup final victory in Paris and in 2019 even made the triple perfect at the 2019 World Cup final.
